Install Checklist

An install checklist for South African sites, from floor space and extraction to power, offloading and access.

How an Install Checklist works on site

Use the Install Checklist before delivery to confirm floor space, extraction, power supply, offloading and site access. It gives Somerset West workshops a clear list of what must be ready before a CNC router or CO₂ laser is moved in.

Use the checklist against the exact machine being delivered and the room where it will sit. Router installs need sheet handling room, dust extraction route, and enough space to service the spindle and control cabinet. CO₂ laser sites must also confirm water cooling position, extraction duct run, and a stable power point that is not shared with heavy shop equipment.

Take site photos before delivery day and mark door widths, passage turns, and the offloading point. That record helps prevent surprises when a crated router, laser, or profile cell arrives on a truck. It also gives your electrician and extraction contractor the same reference when they prepare the workshop.

Site checks before delivery

A site-ready checklist should cover access routes, offloading, machine position, extraction points, power supply, chiller placement, and first-run sign-off. Notes can be marked against a CNC router, CO₂ laser, or profile cell so the workshop team and electrician are working from the same details. That makes it easier to spot missing sockets, tight doorways, weak extraction runs, or awkward forklift access before delivery day.

Read this checklist together with the machine specification and your layout sketch before booking transport. Verify supply voltage, breaker size, extractor location, and cooling requirements against the actual router, laser, or cell on order.

  • Doorways, gates, and turning space checked
  • Power, extraction, and cooling confirmed
  • Offloading method agreed before arrival

Workshop requirements for South African sites

Sites in Somerset West and Cape Town often need extra attention to coastal air, shared industrial units, and limited loading access. The checklist should cover truck entry, pallet jack or forklift availability, and where the machine can be uncrated without blocking other work. For smaller workshops, measure around benches, racking, and sheet stacks rather than estimating by eye.

Power stability matters when planning a CNC router or CO₂ laser install in South Africa. Note whether the machine will run with backup power, what must shut down during outages, and where the chiller or extractor will restart from. For laser rooms, also check ventilation discharge points so fumes do not return through nearby doors or windows.

First-run sign-off points

Use this checklist for delivery access, floor space, power, extraction, cooling, and first-run checks before a CNC router, CO₂ laser, or profile cell is signed off.

After positioning the machine, use the checklist again for commissioning and handover. Confirm axis movement, extraction draw, chiller operation, air supply where fitted, and that the emergency stop can be reached easily from the operator position. Finish by checking sample material, spoilboard or bed setup, and basic cleaning items for the first production day.
